Sometimes, it’s the little things in life that make you happy. Being out in the sun, drinking tea, having a tasty lunch, sleeping in fresh and clean bed sheets, saving money on groceries, seeing kids laughing together, hanging around with your loved ones so you forget you have a phone and…seeing flowers everywhere.
Yes you read that right, flowers! There is something magical about them. Flowers give us joy—whether you give, receive or see flowers, it’s something that will automatically put a smile on your face. They make us improve our emotional health—they can cheer you up, make you feel delighted, excited and even more productive (unless you’ve got the hay fever, but that’s a different story hehe).
Last weekend my friend came to visit me and we strolled through sunny Amsterdam. The climbing roses immediately caught our attention and they made us scream “ohhh” and “aaahh”, as they popped up on every corner. Aren’t they just beyond beautiful?
Seeing those roses blooming everywhere, plus catching up with my friend really brightened up my day. And just when I thought it couldn’t get any better, we passed by a peony pop-up store and the owner gave us peonies (which are my faves btw) for free! Life is good. Yes, the older I get, the more I realize the simplest things in life are the real ones that make me smile.
On a side note: this was probably the hardest photo session I’ve ever had as the stupid hay fever hit me so badly! You can’t tell but I kept sneezing that I wanted to chop off my nose.
What are the little things in life that make you happy?
Thank you for taking the time to read my post. Until next time,
