Welcome to another week of the Winter Coat Edit series! Let’s talk about puffer jackets today:)
When you hear the words “puffer, puffy or puff jackets”, you probably would think of looking like a marshmallow or Michelin man, right? (that’s what I thought in the first place!) But did you know that if you style it well, you can actually look stylish without adding bulk?
1// petite? Go short
Tall girls can pull off any puffer jacket..whether it’s long, midi or short. For petite girls, it might be a challenge. However, if you ask me, I’d say it’s better to stick to short puffers or pieces that reach just above your knees. If you want to elongate your legs, simply go for booties with a (block) heel or pair it with a pair of OTK boots. OTK boots instantly make you look taller and slimmer.
2// play with colours
Puffer jackets do not only come in different lengths, but also in several colours. Make a statement by choosing a sharp colour ((vinyl) red, purple or cobalt blue will do!) puffer jacket. But if you want to play it safe just like I do, go for a basic colour. Boring? Not if you combine it with fun colours. Just like my outfit here, I wore a hot pink oversized sweater under my jacket.
3// add dimension
One of the benefits of wearing a puffer jacket is that it keeps you instantly warm — it feels like your blanket! Yup, even when you wear it open. Create dimension by wearing your jacket open and adding some accessories to your outfit.
By wearing different types of jeans you can actually create different looks with a puffer jacket as well. For a laid back feel, opt for straight or mom jeans. Mom jeans have always been one of my fave jeans. In order to look cool and relaxed at the same time, simply tuck your top into your mom/high waist jeans. For a classic, chic touch, go for dark skinny jeans with pearl beads or choose jeans with side stripe details. Extra tip: draw more interest to your look by belting your jacket!
Have you worn a puffer jacket before? If so, how would you style it?
Thank you for taking the time to read my post. Until next time,
