Hope everyone’s having a wonderful winter so far! As this is my first post of the new year, I’d like to start with a complete new style series: The Winter Coat Edit When it comes to winter essentials, I have a weak spot for coats. I find myself getting new outerwear pieces every year (I know, the struggle is real). For me, I love wearing different types of winter coats; they say something about my mood. Plus, a girl can never have enough winter coats, right? Right?
Anyway, in this series I’d like to give you a short overview of what winter coat you should incorporate into your wardrobe, and how you can style it. So today’s all about wrap coats! This wrap coat— also known as robe coat— here, is one of my go-to coats!
1// what goes around, comes around
Have you noticed that some winter (outerwear) fashion trends stay and some disappear forever? When it comes to wrap coats, they always come back. This outerwear piece has been one of the best classic winter items of all times. They are super functional, they go with everything and they keep you warm too. Can’t go wrong I’d say!
Yes, the styling options are endless! Whether you have a casual/business meeting or when you need to run errands, it’s possible to dress up any outfit with a wrap coat. For a sophisticated yet effortless look, go all-black. For a more casual, off duty look, pair it with a simple pair of blue jeans and a white top.
3// to tie or not to tie
Let me tell you something. I personally don’t like to fasten my coats when wearing them (yep, even when it’s super super cold outside, I’d like to leave my coats open! My friends can tell). However, this doesn’t apply to wrap coats.. For me, wrap coats are incredibly cool because of the tie belt. Whether you tie it or leave it untied — they take your outfit up a notch! You can either tie it in the middle, or you can simply tie it on one side…Don’t like to fasten your coat? NO worries! You can leave your coat open by simply tying the belt behind your back. This creates a more effortless look.
4// layering? Yes please!
If you like oversized items just like me, go for an oversized wrap coat. The good thing about an oversized version is that you can wear a lot of layers underneath. You can hardly see it, but in my outfit today I wore four layers on top.
5// suitable for any body type
If you ask me, wrap coats accentuate all your best features — whether you have a pear, an hourglass or a rectangle body shape. It’s perfect for any body type! And yes, this also applies to pregnant mommies. A wrap coat is comfortable (no buttons or zips struggles!), and you can show your bump to the world without trying too hard. Simply tie the belt above your bump and you’ll have the most stylish baby bump ever.
Would you wear a wrap coat this winter?
Thank you for taking the time to read my post. Until next time,
