How to wear the oversized + beret trend this fall/winter

The beret is back and I couldn’t be happier! I’ve always loved this classic headwear piece and I remember my sister had one when she was a teenager. I was so excited when she finally passed down her beret to me, I felt like I was the coolest kid on the block!

With that said, the beret is an absolute must this fall/winter. It’s the ultimate accessory to finish off any look. A beret looks fun, chic and feminine. And it keeps your head warm too!

When it comes to clothing, oversized sweaters are the items you can’t miss in your wardrobe either. I love that I can snuggle up in an oversized (knit) sweater. It’s comfy and so cozy.

You can create endless outfits with just one simple beret and an oversized sweater. But first, how do you put on a beret? Let me tell you a secret: it took me so long in order to shape the beret and keep it in place! It might look very simple, but for me it required skills and lots of patience..

There are a lot of ways to wear this hat piece, but I’d like to wear it to one side. So here’s a little guide on how to wear it sideways:

[1] First, open up your beret. Make sure it’s wide enough so it won’t ruin your hair. Tip: blow-dry your hair, use some hair spray in order to create volume. Also, choosing the right size of your beret makes a world of difference! The perfect size may not be too small, not too big.
[2] Put the beret lightly on your head like so. Don’t squeeze it when putting on.
[3] Tilt the beret slighty to one side. The front edge of the beret would across your (fore)head with the bottom edge sloping down over one ear.
[4] If you have (side swept) bangs just like me, put it to the front and shape the beret.

Now let’s move on how to style oversized knits.
For me, the perfect combo would be an oversized knit paired with some relaxed (mom) jeans. It just creates that “casual but stylish without trying too hard look”. It’s one my favourite off duty looks.

But how do you style an oversized knit without looking bulky? Tuck it in is the answer to all oversized sweater problems! Yes, it’s all in the details! Simply tuck a small section of your sweater into the front of your trousers and you’re done. You just created a stylish touch to your look in just a few sec!

Would you try the oversized and beret trend this season?

I love how a lot of former fashion trends are coming back! I haven’t worn a baret since I was a kid and they look classier than beanies XD. I love how the baret and oversized sweater looks on you!

I love this sweater! I’m a huge fan of oversized, cosy sweaters but this is so much more chic than ones I usually see. I LOVE those flowers!
